Google'south Wear Os smartwatch platform has reportedly suffered a serious problem for months, but apparently non many people noticed. "Hey Google," voice commands haven't piece of work for some users since Nov.

Notably a buggy platform, nosotros're not surprised to hear well-nigh these Vesture OS woes, which DroidLife showtime reported. The site discovered a Reddit thread that heated upward this calendar week as users complained almost Google's customer support.

According to the original back up claim, submitted November ix, 2020, "Hey Google" vocalism detection didn't piece of work with a Clothing OS update. In order to use the best Google Assistant commands, the user had to activate the AI butler manually.

"Wear OS phonation detection of command word 'ok google' does not work in the current version of Wear Os. Users must instead activate Google Assistant manually which significantly removes utility from the lookout man while lacking an essential and advertised feature," the griping user wrote.

Although they don't specify which Clothing OS smartwatch model they ain, we can assume the effect impacted all devices running the wearable platform. DroidLife reports the TicWatch Pro iii'southward "Hey Google" vocalisation detection failed, pointing out that this smartwatch is one of the newest powered by Google'due south software.

When The Verge  reached out to Google for comment, it said a fix is now being worked on. Of course, that doesn't explain why or how the problem wasn't explored post-obit the original complaint.

Earlier this calendar week I wrote a story in defense force of Clothing Bone. Well, sort of. I explained how Samsung stepping in to relieve Clothing OS would be a smart move. If annihilation, this new evidence of neglect proves why Google might want to partner with the Milky way Lookout man maker. Of course, I simultaneously argue that Samsung ditching Tizen for Wear OS would be a disaster.

Google doesn't push Habiliment OS updates equally oft as, say, Apple does for its watchOS platform. A new version should come in 2021, though, perchance with the long-rumored Pixel Watch. The company didn't provide a timeline for the "Hey Google" voice detection fix, just if your Wear Bone smartwatch or app offers an update yous should run it promptly. Hopefully information technology will bring the feature back online.
